Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance) posts Christmas song, "Xmas Sux"

[I originally posted this on AltPress.com, December 6 at 11:40 p.m. EST]

Perhaps following the lead of My Chemical Romance bandmate Gerard Way, who posted a mysterious track on Soundcloud last night, guitarist Frank Iero has also uploaded a song.
Listen to "xmas sux," a disgruntled anti-Christmas song below:

Gerard and Mikey Way (My Chemical Romance) discuss working with The Aquabats

[I originally posted this on AltPress.com, December 4 @ 10:30 a.m. EST]

My Chemical Romance vocalist Gerard Way and bassist Mikey Way appear on today's installment of Kevin Smith's Smodcast. In the midst of the 2-hour episode, the Way brothers reveal details of their working on a new episode of The Aquabats Super Show.
Co-written by Gerard, the Aquabats Super Show episode titled "Anti-Bats Are Go" is described as "the Superman II version of The Aquabats." It features a thrashcore band called Asthma, and Mikey Way makes his acting debut playing the singer.
Last month, Gerard tweeted about co-directing a television show, presumably the aforementioned one:
The brothers also discuss the challenges of writing music after being on the road for an extended period of time and how that translated to 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys, their musical upbringings, including the music they listened to when they were young and their first bands: an instrumental metal band pronounced "Drakkora," a Rites Of Spring and Promise Ring-esque band, Raygun Jones, and a punk band called Nancy Drew.

Listen to the full "smodcast."

UPDATE: December 7 at 11:49 p.m. EST
Today, Gerard Way tweeted that he was, "Off to record Smodcast part 2!"
Stay tuned!

Where Are You, DESTROYA?!

Okay, so that tweet doesn't wholly apply because I don't have violent rage toward you guys, but any remote chance to quote a Gerard tweet must be taken. That's my policy.

It has probably become glaringly obvious that I haven't been updating here with reasonable frequency lately, and I just wanted to drop in to give a bit of an explanation.

In the middle of October, I began working at Alternative Press as the web content administrator. What that means is that, while AP search for their new web editor, I oversee a massive chunk of  the AltPress.com goings-on as well as the magazine's online presence elsewhere during the work week.

That's pretty rad considering it's basically my dream job. I feel very grateful and just mind-blown to be able to work at my favorite magazine with tremendously talented humans.

I hope that you can forgive my quietness here. As you can imagine, I don't have much leisure time these days, but I am still paying attention and do know what's going on in the MCR world, so if you ever have any questions or want something clarified or cleared up, please do not hesitate to ask me!
